MAD Gear Passes 12,000 Planners Sold as Founder Sam Amyett Grows ReadyPlan Past 5,000 Registered Users With a Communications-First Approach to Preparedness

Bee Cave, Texas, February 5, 2026. MAD Gear, a family-owned preparedness company based in Bee Cave, Texas, announced continued growth across its planning products and its digital platform, ReadyPlan.

MAD Gear was founded by Sam Amyett after the February 22, 2024 AT&T outage highlighted how quickly everyday coordination can break down when communications become unreliable. A subsequent FCC report found the outage lasted at least 12 hours and blocked more than 92 million voice calls, including more than 25,000 attempts to reach 911.

"With MAD Gear, we focus on communications and coordination first," said Amyett. "A plan only matters if people can actually share it and act on it. ReadyPlan helps people get a strong draft in place quickly, then refine it into something their household or group can execute."

MAD Gear has sold more than 12,000 planners, including printed planners designed to stay usable when power or networks fail. As the customer base grew, the company recognized a practical gap. Most people carry their phone everywhere, and fewer people carry their planner everywhere. That insight led to ReadyPlan, which serves as the operational copy of a plan that households and groups can update and share quickly. ReadyPlan has surpassed 5,000 registered users.

ReadyPlan uses AI to reduce friction during interconnected planning by helping users draft and organize plan sections, map evacuation routes and decision points, generate checklists and inventory lists, and draft communications plans with redundancy. Users review and finalize all outputs. The goal is to lower the barrier to entry so more families and groups can create a plan, share it, and iterate with confidence.

MAD Gear is expanding planning tools for larger groups that need shared structure and coordinated access, including churches, private schools, neighborhoods, and community organizations.
